Like the pop culture lemming that I am, I’ve been avidly watching HBO series Game of Thrones, even going so far as to torturously work my way through all five of the turgid A Song of Ice and Fire doorstoppers put out by George R.R. Martin (I mean, for goodness’ sake, where’s a good editor when you need one? There’s only so many thousands of pages of rape, pillage, butchery, dried meat, mud and general unwashedness that one can stand).
Anyway, what should I hear at the end of a recent episode, but one of my favourite voices in the world – Matt Berninger. Matt Berninger! Yes, he of the luscious, luscious voice…After doing a song for Portal 2, and now doing ‘The Rains of Castamere’ it kind of goes without saying that the boys from The National must be pretty big fantasy freaks. Just one more reason to love The National :)
PS. While you’re here, it’s well worth watching the brilliant opening credits of Game of Thrones. The wonderful theme music is composed by Ramin Djawadi:
Unfortunately, I don’t think ‘Castamere’ is yet available to purchase. Guess we’ll have to wait for the Series 2 OST (coming soon, apparently). Sadface :(

He did a song for Portal 2? Oh I think my friend told me about that. However, it’s really great they had him doing that song for Season 2. Which I havent seen yet. Have you?
And: If you like soundtracks, check out Ramin Djawadis IRON MAN score. One of my all time favorites, being the superhero-lemming that I am. :P
Hey, lemmings rule, superhero or not :)
See here for ‘Exile Vilify’, the song The National did for Portal 2:
