I missed out on seeing Californian psychedelic rockers Sleepy Sun the last time they swung through my part of town at the inaugural Zurich Openair in 2010 (too busy extricating myself from the mud and trying to stay out of the torrential rain, probably). A shame, because the Zurich Openair show was one of the last they played as a six-piece, with singer Rachel Fannan leaving the band soon after.

Nonetheless, the remaining sleepy heads stayed together (in fact, they had been a five-piece long before Rachel joined) and released their third album, Spine Hits, earlier this year, the follow-up to 2009′s Embrace and 2010′s Fever. Now they are back in town, so let’s see if they can still live up to their title of ‘best psychedelic rock band in the world’ – phew, no pressure there!
