On high rotation at the moment on the kitschenette ipod is the Johnny Cash cover of Trent Reznor’s ‘Hurt’. Actually, I’ve never heard the original, but Johnny Cash’s sombre elegance and heartfelt intonation have kept this song high up on my need-to-play list. And the video is just beautiful – how the camera lingers on his gnarled old-man hands, and the thin curls at the base of his neck, while his wife looks lovingly on.
